While not earth shattering (and quite contrary to ground breaking, but I made ya look), it is something new that I discovered today while looking at an San Francisco Old Mint silver dollar Commem..........the designers initials are on the reverse of the coin! Immediately I grabbed an Uncle George of original nature, and sure enough, it was there too. I checked my 2021 Morgans, and ditto. How many of you knew that? Or am I just getting old? Vote accordingly in the above pole..........
Well George T. Morgan designed both sides so yeah, technically should have his initials on both sides of it. I don't think it was a uniform thing until like 1966 or so when Felix Schlag got his on the Jefferson nickel finally. It's interesting how names and initials go onto u.s. coins. Like the Gobrecht Dollar, the dude puts his full name on it right above the date!
