Bitten by the capped bust bug. Have been picking up lower end bust capped halves and quarters. My most recent acquisition that arrived yesterday is a nice coin with obverse damage. This one was priced appropriately for the damage and having an obvious cleaning in the past. Even with the damage I still like it. 1831 small letters variety.
Not a bad addition despite the graffiti. This die marriage (B-1) is unique in that it is the only 1831-1838 reverse that has berries on the olive branch. This was a holdover from the 1815-1828 reverses, and the berries never again appeared for the rest of the 1831-1838 series.
I also have this bug! We've got about a dozen low end halves and quarters of the capped bust variety. They're beeeaaaautiful!
