1969 D Penny error?

    Would anyone know if this would be considered an error - any idea what could have caused this? Any thoughts/help is greatly appreciated!

    Looks like damage to me a lot could've happened during its 53 years in circulation,still a cent.

    Strictly damage. Either a hard hit or someone purposely did it. Why? Who knows, but certainly not an error or worth anything more than face value.
