so i went and picked up my $5 star note today and i am posting it for everyone to see. I have not decided what to do with it yet. If i sell it i could really help pay some serious student loans, but i really like how it looks. Just some background i was able to get from my grandmother: my grandfather was in the army during WWII and while he never served in Hawaii, he was stationed in California, a buddy of his brought back this note and about 20 more for him along with dozens of Japenese and Phillipino Pesos. I have two 1934A $5 notes and the rest are all $1. If i can get some time i will post the rest of the notes i was given. thanks for looking.

sorry about the size of the photos i was having a little trouble with photobucket. i will try and post larger photos later.

Congrats! Looks like your grandparents provided college tuition money for you in an unconventional asset vehicle.:) Coming from someone who has dealt with student loans, I fully understand your temptation to pay them down or completely off and while it is great to be debt free for some people a student loan is a great way to build a good credit by making regular payments over time. You can still sell the note and bank the rest of your cash for something else, unless the interest or time left on your loan is working against you. Either way, they provided you with an educational gift and an enlightening surprise in numismatics. Again, congrats! :hammer:

Would love to see your other notes too when you can get then up!

you are one lucky fella. if you do sell it i would think that would fetch a pretty hefty sum. i would be contacting Heritage ASAP to put that bad boy up for auction. that would help out a lot towards loans. :thumb:
