I used to have one of these and sold it. Must have had buyer's remorse since I just purchased this one.

I bought a few of these 1996 Austrian 50 Shilling on eBay. As a collector of ancient and medieval coins, I like old iconography and heraldry on modern issues. This type has a number of interesting features. It celebrates Austria's millennial, Heinrich I is featured as a knight (Margrave of Austria from 994 to 1018), the reverse shows the 9 coats of arms of the Austrian states, and it's the first bi-metallic coin issued by Austria. Personally, I like the way the devices are framed and offset by the two metals, and it's a pleasing size at 26mm, 8.1g. Definitely one of my favorite bi-metallic European issues...
