Those are pretty coins, I've got a 1793. First time I saw a coin with the slanted reeding on the edge.

Don't know if this has been posted before, but this crown sized Latvian coin is a new addition of mine. I've been looking for one for some time. With a mintage of less than 4 million throughout the entire issue it was a must have for my collection. Thanks @Evan Saltis for the coin!

Let alone sending cartloads of them via lousy bandit-infested roads to pay your arms bill or subsidies to your allies

Serafino - I apologise for the long delay in coming back to you on this.

I am not a good photographer and I do not have a sophisticated camera. However, I got the coin out and here is a photo of the edge taken with my cellphone. I hope it at least gives you an idea.

You really should do a video of the edge while rotating the coin thru the full 360 degrees. Try to get the bank people to rotate the coin while you video.

Remember to rotate in the direction of the writing...

A new edition and a question.

I purchased this at a local coin show yesterday. 1800-M Italian States-Milan Silver Crocione

    ItaMil180004.jpg

The dealer, who is also a friend of mine, had it marked as KM-239.

1 problem. Krause only lists KM-239 up to 1799 with a minimal value. KM-246 covers 1800 but has a much higher value.

Davenport uses the same number for the entire date range.

    The difference:
KM-239 Edge lettering LEGE ET FIDE
KM-246 Edge Lettering IVSTITIA ET FIDE

Mine is LEGE ET FIDE but the date makes it a 246.

    So:
Is Krause wrong? - most likely
Is this some transitional piece? maybe old planchets laying around - possible
Is it counterfeit? - also possible but nothing else seems off about it.

I did get a lousy picture of the edge.

Some years ago I was hunting for this type because of the Krause catalogue value, but i quickly realised that it's real market value is very low, the usual for the type and stopped chasing it!

Well, that means I paid what it is worth.

Thanks for the confirmation. That link has better information than the separate listing they have for just the Milan minted coins that I had found.

This was kind of an impulse purchase. I like siege money, odd coinage, crown sized silver. This ticked all the boxes.

Obverse: A star in the center, date above, value below, and mint mark.
    Lettering: 1794 / 100St
    Reverse: Smooth (uniface)

    Composition: Silver
    Weight: 30.07 g
    Diameter: 40.8 mm

Comments: Siege of Maastricht by the French troops, the Austrians held the city at that time (second restauration of the Austrian Netherlands under Franz II) whereas the United Provinces and the Duchy of Liege had ruled Maastricht.

Can anyone help me ID this coin? DSC_0001.JPG DSC_0005.JPG Between my mediocre photos & the very worn condition, may be hard to tell. But based on another coin posted about above, I think it may be an Italian States-Silver Crocione. Date 1788, with an "A", which I assume is an mintmark(?).

Any idea what it's worth, & is there a Krause #? TIA

It is this coin. Here is the Krause value. It’s interesting that these were made in Milan, which wasn’t even a part of the Austrian Netherlands. I imagine that’s due to its demand as a trade coin and Hapsburg rule over Milan. I meant to quote you directly but forgot to.
