Yep, that "Lincoln-Kennedy Coincidences" bit is always extra cheesy. At least they left out the bit about Monroe, MD and Marilyn Monroe.
I got 3 growing up as gifts. And, since I never give away/sell my coins. Here they are: Wait! You mean to tell me they had different dimes before the ones with Roosevelt on them? And different cents before those with Lincoln?! 7 year old mind is blown!!
Here’s a whole new low…… When my boy was a kid he spent his weekend at a big outdoor flea market emptying garbage and sweeping floors to earn the money to present these to me for Fathers Day. That was twenty years ago and I still haven’t told him….
Great idea for a thread. Do you commemorative collectors consider these 1996 Atlanta Olympics 50-cent and pin sets cheesy? I kind of like them.
Man, that mule wins the prize. Let me get this straight: so they sliced up two coins, welded them together, gold plated the Frankenstein monster, put it in a fancy clamshell box, AND you get a COA? That's got more layers of cheese than a lasagna.
Fun thread, Randy! I think anyone who's collected coins for awhile has some of this stuff. I can't even remember where/when I came about these two: The late model nickels in this one have some really pretty toning not caught in the pics and the liberty nickel has some really wild colors to it:
That’s wicked cool. I remember when that game first came out at the arcade! I put a lot of quarters into that one!
