Got these lot of Ikes, nothing special in there but I like the crown-sized coin and the cool reverse.
Wondering if any of you spend these coins in everyday transactions?

I don't use coins much anymore. When I go to the golf course, I bring a few Presidential or Native American dollars to give as tips. I don't think they will ever be worth more than a dollar.

I carry an Ike, a Kennedy and a new dollar coin and after I write the tip on the cc, I also leave the coins on the table as an extra bonus. The folks who wait tables and serve and clean up work hard and deserve anything extra.

When I buy collections including them in circulated grades, I either end up tipping waitstaff or gas attendants with them, or encouraging the sellers to keep them and do the same (1972 TY 2 excepted, of course). That really makes the day of many who think these extremely common coins are really special.

I tried spending one at the post office on the Middle Tennessee State University campus, and the clerk thought I had given her a counterfeit coin. Luckily her manager had a higher degree of intellectual capability and accepted it as payment.

Be sure to check for the 1972P Type 2.

EDIT: They aren't common to find any more but I've gotten several dumps from my banks in the past. I spent them all over the place. Got quite a few strange looks :)

I have about 9 of them to spend if I ever get out of the house.

    It's over-rated out there.

Last time I got one in change Ronald Reagan was in office. The last 30
years I don't go into banks much, so I don't have the opportunity to ask
for them. About 4 years ago I bought 35 Unc. rolls from a dealer at a
show. $30 a roll. Gave me a good deal so he wouldn't have to drag them
    back home.

I love IKES…..just because I like the size and heft of them. A special thanks to @CoinJockey73 for his help feeding my Ike obsession!
They are getting harder to find. My bank tellers call me if they get any because they hate having them and know they can unload them on me.

Regarding many comments on size, crown-size, etc...they're the same as/no larger than Peace and Morgans, if more recent, of course, and closer to current times in memory/use compared to all the downsized dollars nowadays, since 1979, etc. Trivia...the popular WWII Ike jacket came up on Jeopardy yesterday and no one knew of it...Ike designed it, similar to a heavy-duty dinner jacket look but without tails.

I’m not in a hurry but it is a pain. I’m recovering from vertigo so things still not in place. They keep moving. I look in the mirror and I’m not moving but that guy looking at me is. Haha and my wife, she’s at her mothers house, next door. Both of them have COVID-19. Mom is 91 and she’s not doing bad but the doctor wants to put my wife in the hospital as she’s terrible. Mom is taking care of her. I haven’t seen my wife in 11 days. I just want to get out but I need something to hold on to in order to stand upright.

I worked service desk at the grocery store for a few years, and there were maybe 4 or 5 of these that came through when I checked all the tills at closing.

I haven't seen them in circulation in years. I sneak a peek into cash drawers when cashiers open them and never see ANY coins larger than a quarter.

You can still get Ikes ordered in a $500 bag at the local bank.
I'd love to have a dollar slot machine to run my random few through.

I asked my bank about that. They say they can't order them. It is not an option wiyh their service.

I know a car dealer that orders up ikes and $2 bills.
Next time I'm in there I'll ask if he still does it post covid.
