If I posted this before, it was a long time ago.

I just picked up a 1992 Columbus Quincentenary 2 coin set (for a lovely price of $24). And I have the classic 1892 Columbus Expo Quadricentennial coin. That got me thinking... are there any other Commemorative coins that are celebrating the same thing but 100 years apart?

I am hoping the Mint does it with a 2021 Morgan. But that's not really the same thing.

Well, they did nothing for Lafayette in 2000, or in 2015 for the Pan-Pac, and nothing even for Lincoln (Illinois actually) in 2018. I doubt they'll do anything for Maine or the Pilgrims this year. After that, I don't think they'd even consider anything.

They're coming up with enough bad modern commemoratives without repeating bad decisions of the past. :p:p

Yeah, I just went through the list. Nothing even remotely close. Except the 92/92 Columbus.

My current four. Actively adding to my classic commemorative collection albeit slowly because some are quite pricy. Looking to complete a one of each kind set.

The Huguenot and San Diego are in NGC holders. The Robinson, ANACS. And the Iowa, ICG. The San Diego is in a particularly old NGC holder, I believe the first one after that original black holder. Have a BTW in the mail currently on it's way to me.

I am 12 coins away from completing a set of classic gold and silver commemoratives. I am not worried about collecting all the different series by mint marks but I do wonder if I should include the varieties of the Alabama, Grant, Missouri, and Pilgrim. Any thoughts? Also, the two 1915-S Panama $50 pieces are not included in my set.

Heavens Paul, you'd likely have to mortgage the house, wife and children. :)

My thought process is that if I'm skipping all the mint marks/dates of the same design, then I'd also skip the varieties (with star, 2x2, etc). That will save you some funds for the remaining 12 that you need.
