Mint Error?

Hello. I'd like to get your opinion on a coin I found last June. Haven't seen another one yet. It's a 2020 Salt River Bay with an extra root starting to form. It could only have gotten there when the die was made I think.

Roots grow you know

Just kidding. Which root? They don't add extra roots when the die was made. But if the die is overused then it becomes worn and die cracks form.

Nothing major.

Suggestion.. There is an Error Coins forum here on CoinTalk. Create and ask your error questions there.

Ok. Thanks I'll go there. But to answer you ,pull up a coin and compare to mine and you'll see the item in question to the right of center.

 

It would be better for you, as the OP, to post pictures of a normal coin, and also close-ups of the area in question from the found coin.

 

I believe you have a die chip that developed between two roots that were close together.

 

Make sure you water it.

 

I don't have the time to find a "normal" quarter and then compare them, so I'll take your word for it, but NAV in my opinion, so spend it.

Die chip, IMO

 

Definite die chip. Nice to find but not worth any extra. Protect and keep it.

 

I agree they are die chips, very small premium, if any.

 

I was thinking that these might help your assessment. One is correct, one is upside down.
