Here’s another item from that buy with the Blue Butterfly. A US mint medal of George Washington in 1976 for the Bicentennial. No grade given to this.
These were in first day covers that were post marked at several post offices cities that were important to the war. There were several in blue, white and tan envelopes.with a set of 4 canceled stampts.
Nice. Gots a few meself in OGP from back in the day. Never imaged any of them, but I did photog these....
The US Mint made a lot of cool stuff like this. For some reason it just didn't get much respect in the market and most of it landed in the junk bins. I saved a lot of items but don't have images to share.

@dwhiz, The “America’s First Medals” set was the best of these Bicentennial pieces in my opinion. The booklet that came with it is especially nice. The last I heard, the sets sell sell for about $30 to $35 in nice condition, which is still below the issue price. For those who are unfamiliar with the background of these pieces, they are miniaturized versions of the military medals that the Continental Congress awarded to heroes of the American Revolutionary War. All of the original pieces were larger. The pieces given to the heroes were struck in gold or silver. Modern collectors strive to collect examples in bronze. We also try to find pieces that were struck from the original dies, but that is often very hard or impossible
