I am looking forward to getting 2 each of these. The proof and regular. It seems lately that the proofs are harder to find in MS 70 condition. Does anyone else agree? If you could buy 5 what would you do 3 proof and 2 regular or how and why? I am a disabled vet and work for the VA so there is alot of interest in these here.
I don't think I've ever seen an MS70 proof coin before. Seriously, though...Proofs are easier to get in PF70 (imo). I plan to get my order in for the Unc coin the minute ordering begins. You stand a much better chance of getting an MS70 Unc coin if you order right away. I notice that a lot of dealers place large orders, cherrypick the best ones, and return the rest. The Mint returns the picked over coins to stock and uses them to fill later orders.
Did you get the letter in the mail from the Mint? I received mine on Saturday and bought 1 of each (for now). Regular proof was $43.95 and Uncirc was $35.95 but through the letter you can get the proof for $39.95 and Uncirc for $33.95. -Shrek
I just registered with them today. This will be my first mint purchase and I was thinking 3 proofs and 2 regular then send all 5 to be graded. Get my feet wet on both fronts, or I will just get all wet, hope it's not the latter.
I see them listed in the US Mint website at... Unc: $33.95 Proof: $39.95 Those are the introductory prices available from 12:00 (noon) 25Feb2010 through 5:00 PM 29Mar2010. There's a limit of 100 each per household for the first 30 days and will be reevaluated every 30 days. Total mintage: 350,000 across all product lines (Unc/Proof)
I knew they were coming out the 25th but jeabess I feel sheepish right now. They made it sound like you could only get the deal on through this letter. However I would have saved myself a stamp and waited.:headbang: -Shrek
Dave, I can certainly agree with the high interest factor. . . And thanks for your service to our fellow brother Veterans! You would think there there should be away for the U. S. Mint to regulate the volume purchasers. . . I know I am dreaming. . .:headbang:But I do get aggravated over the idea that these volume purchasers(some of whom are TV and/or Internet price gougers) can cherry pick and then the Mint dumps the rest back on the unsuspecting public! Amazing that the Mint mailings arrive at all different times! That would be an excellent outcome! I am waiting to get on line and place my order for the coins....
I'm going to order one of these for my brother who is a 100% disabled Vietnam vet. He doesn't collect coins and wouldn't know a collectible coin from a hole in the ground. But, his birthday is next month and I'm going to surprise him with one. I think he'll like it.
Excellent Scotty! The Coin is a great way to recognize the sacrifice of service members who are disabled. And better yet it is a great Birthday gift! Please wish your Brother a Happy Birthday from me and also Welcome Home, Brother!
Thanks, Namvet! Like I said, he doesn't collect coins, so I'm sure he'll put it away in the Safe Deposit Box and probably never look at it again. But, who knows? I think it's a great design and I think he'll appreciate it, too. I'm not a veteran, but do you mind if say to you, too: "WELCOME HOME, BROTHER"! God Bless our Veterans, every single one of them!!!!!
yeah I already want mine. Since i did mine in the mail, I was hoping to have seen it charged already..but nothing
