Seth - interestingly, I'm noticing many LMCs in my change that look like liberated Lincolns. With the change shortages caused by the pandemic, I think that it may have spurned some folks to cash in spare change, including some older rolls that may have been tucked away. I think I posted a few from the 60s that I collected a few weeks back. That seemed a bit unrealistic before the pandemic, but more likely to occur because of it. Welcome to CT!

This one stood out to me tonight. Weight is correct but still deciding on what is contributing to the lack of detail on the outer devices.

I found this in my change from Walmart. Is this a Doubled Die on the 4? IMG_3105~2.jpg 20220203_202207.jpg

I'm thinking struck through grease, and quite a lot of it. That fade on the rim at the right is impressive.

Hi Jeff...it's possible, but I think something else is going on. The devices are weak on both sides of the coin in the same spot. And I see a bit of a collar clash on the obverse and was thinking that this might be more a result of some attrition. Not an extreme specimen, but stood out enough as being different. I can also see a trace of finning on the left side of the obverse which might indicate a vertical tilt. Maybe a bit on the reverse opposite. I put calipers to the coin and it has uniform thickness.

I recently sorted through two one quart milk bottles that I dump pocket change into. I found 49 different Statehood quarters, 3 of the US Territories quarters, and 42 of the America the Beautiful quarters. I was surprised by the variety that I found. I did not find any that were mint marked "W."

The W's I've found all came from pocket change, so it's only a matter of time. That said, they are a pretty infrequent event.
