I generally like the low mintage mid 1990-2000teen JFK Silver proofs, as they tend to be attractive, and have low mintages. The 2017 has a low mintage for the series—406,000. They tend to be well struck, and have great cameo.
@Morgandude11 I’m with you. Those are sharp coins and ought to be welcome in any collection. Sure are in mine!
Indeed so very nice, and NGC consistently does such a good (the best) job of orienting the coins correctly...straight/plumb in the holders, plus this reverse strike is absolutely perfect with no rotation as inverted to the obverse.
I like the look of cameo proofs against the NGC holder far better than PCGS. It has a better aesthetic as far as I am concerned. The white goes well, with the cameo.
I like modern proof silver halves, quarters and dimes precisely because of the low mintages you mentioned. You can find some real bargains with them.
I hadn't thought about the 2017 Limited Edition Set until I saw yours. Like an entry above, I don't know why, but I, too, bought 2 2017 S Limited Edition Set, and are they beautiful. I don't usually have my coins graded, but if I do, I will send them to NGC, but first I need to get them out of the box and look at them. I really like the Kennedy Half you showed us. What made you decide to send your Kennedy in for grading?
I bought it graded. I have a full Dansco basic set of Kennedys. I buy the proofs and specialty coins gradually, as I see ones that I like. I am down to a few Silver proofs, and error coins, like DDOs, and QDO coins. I liked the look of this coin, already certified.
Thanks for your entry. I haven't really gotten into sets yet. I keep a record of each purchase and have a binder for each year. I keep a record of purchases from the Mint and keep them in the order of the shipping date. I didn't start until late. I have detailed records of all the purchases in a binder for each year.
