Hi all. Found a new spot n paid $25 total for an early lincoln wheat cent book (7.95) in which there were: 1910, 1911, 1917 that I'd like to see an example of a 1917 ddo if anyone could show me a link? 1917d, 1918, 1919, 1919d & s, 1920, 1920s, 1922d pics provided, any opinions on grade? how weak a D is a 'weak D'? 1924, 1925, 1926, 27 &27d, 28, 29, 30, 30d&s, 34&34d, 35&35d, 36&36d, 37&37d, 38&38d, 39, & 40+d+s. Pretty sure that book paid for itself. Also got a '53c $2 star for $15. (See pics) Did I do any good on that one? Be honest now...
http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=606 according to this im thinking AU50 or 53? which is better than i thought before i saw this chart
You have a 1953-C 2$ STAR note (note the asterisk before the serial number). Those are rare - so you probably got your money's worth. My book lists your star note for $40 if it is uncirculated (a non-star would only be $15 if it was uncirculated). Not sure what it would be worth as circulated as yours, i'm just giving you a ballpark.
D does not look that weak to me from the pics, Im no expert though maybe PennyLady could give you better information
k. am eager to find out about that. looks like I got my $25 worth... any opinions on overall grade? Robbudo- looks like the run on those '53c $2 stars was only 360,000. on ebay theyre around $70!
Seems like you did fairly well, in fact you did really well depending on who you ask. The $2 dollar star note is a special part of the deal for certain. Do yourself a big favor and look over those cents really well to find any hidden errors. Mums the word about antique stores!l just kidding, that secret has been shared on this forum over and over again. I think I even gave up a location, nah!! just kidding, I wouldn't go that far!! :kewl: I mean I'm a nice guy and all but finding a good cache for a good deal could become very competitive.
