I have the note that was featured in the Sept-Oct PCGS Market Report Magazine in the article "noteworthy notes" on page 171. I'm considering selling it. I do pretty well on Ebay, but was wondering the best way to sell it there, or should I use Great Collections? There are only two others known, they were mentioned in the description of another note on Heritage Auctions: https://currency.ha.com/itm/militar...pmg-choice-uncirculated-64-epq/a/3537-18623.s any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks!!
After seeing the price of the bill in your link. I would definitely consign it to major auction house. Cool note DelSec.
Not sure you should sell but that’s your decision, so if you do I would use a major auction house. Welcome to CT.
Not sure what happened with that last post....LOL, But if your looking to get top dollar I would go with an auction house, most people that are looking for rare items go there, not so much on ebay, I have been collecting and investing in MPC for over 20 years, so I know just a little bit about them, had 4 top sets at PCGS including series 641,661,681,692 all Vietnam issues. One of the things I have personally learned is that the reputation of the company doing the authentication is very important ( Collector Universe which was part of the old PCGS now defunct ) was an excellent brand when they exited the picture PMG became the true #1 and undisputed, your note seems to be graded by PCGS Gold shield which is very new to the game many collectors, me included would rather have the note in a PMG holder just carries more weight and value in the long run, my suggestion is to get the note reholdered at PMG, I think with the error people would pay allot more regardless of grade.
You came to the right place for assistance in your decision. Don't do anything until you are satisfied and sure! Be safe not sorry. Good luck and welcome to CT.
What auction house would you recommend? Seems like most have a minimum consignment - Heritage says $5,000. thanks!
I'm new to the grading and had no idea the Gold Shield was anything, now I see what it means: https://www.pcgs.com/security
Thanks! Nice note! I have many but not that way. Most I got from garage sales years ago and from other veterans like myself. I never went overseas. Many of the people that I was with said they just emptied their pockets of stuff they felt they did not need going back home and left it/them on the tarmac.
Gold shield is nice and having nothing against them however just go on ebay or any of the major auction houses and there just not there, its all about collector preference and PMG as well known as they are plus the fact they have a well established registry and pop report, and Gold shield being around for such short a time it gives the collector pause, its all about being well known in the industry. here's a couple of my examples.
