@ldhaid that is still not damaged as it's the same all the way past the area I have bent the metal up to see the underside
The way the amount of copper showing tapers off, I think it took a hit that peeled back the outer layer and bent it over the 6. JMHO!!!!! Definitely think it's PMD!!!!
The first set of photos, and the last, show damage on the rim/edge area. Based on those photos, it's not a lamination, not a rim burr or rim fold, etc. It's damaged.
@Raizac Expert attribution on the previous post from a top mint error expert Fred Weinberg.. Now you could put the issue to rest
UPDATE @paddyman98 @Fred Weinberg I sent this in to see who was right! it cost me 50 bucks+sh. it came back as code 83 Peeling Lamination!!!!! witch is a planchet error and not PMD as you all said it was... ppl on coin talk claim they will pay grading fees if it comes back an error so who is going to buck up? this is an error as it's a planchet flaw...if anyone wants to pay you can send it to PayPal @Raizac002 you will see the same icon tag that I use here on coin talk
PCGS and other Grading/Attribution companies are not perfect. They sometimes make the wrong call. But that's not even the case for you coin.. Clearly they didn't attribute it as a Mint Error. Funny how they didn't slab it Never heard of what they think it is and I'm not convince of anything.. that's no error in my book
look it up on pcgs web site they do not slab lam errors... in secech type in code 83 and click on first link
That's because peeling laminations are boring Not an interesting issue anyways. The body bag does not state Mint Error. I'm not shelling out anything. Too bad.
so you don't think lam errors are mint errors? I didn't expect anyone to pay up as it's all talk anyways
Hehe.. I don't know what to think of it.. I do know that I have seen PCGS body bag certian minor errors that they don't slab but they will still put MINT ERROR on the label. So your coin is up in the air IMHO
it's cool I'm not mad I just wanted to post the update I have another one that I'm PO'ed about with pcgs as I have sent in the 1973 D ddo fs101 and I should have gotten the verity but they did not give it to me but yet their photo's true view shows that my coin and their coin are the same... mine blow and pcgs's here https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1973-d-50c-ddo-fs-101-014-8/147887
