Hello everyone! After more than a little work, I've completed my new site that covers my collection from Philip II, Alexander III, and the Era of the Diadochi. It contains images and stories from all the coins I have so far. It aims for a more humorous aspect, so for those looking for a serious collectors site that goes into detail on the various issues available, this isn't one of those sites. However, for those who just like to look at coins and/or enjoy history, my hope is this page will provide some entertainment. The web site is https://ancientcoinstories.com/
Amazing... great photos and I love the website layout. You should be very proud of the final product - its great! Especially love the photography and the large size of the images when you click on them. Perfect!
A great website, @kirispupis. I like the layout and categorization of coins. Very nice photos also. Thanks of sharing.
kirispupis, Thanks for sharing your unique & fun website . Your layout is artistic, the photos are impressive, & the text interesting & humorous . It's a pleasant mix of history & ancient Greek numismatics done in a "blue collar" style . It's obvious that a lot of hard work went into this project, a true labor of love. I spent nearly an hour browsing the website & will return to it later. When I turned to the books section I expected to see a list of books on ancient Greek numismatics, instead I found two novels by Joseph Calev listed . Why did you list these books ?
My apologies, but those are my books. My hope was that those who like my writing may want to read more, even if it's not about ancient Greek history. Perhaps I need to be explicit about that.
Again, excellent work my friend So much fun reading your stories and seeing your examples I just finished reading up on Kassander's wacko brother Alexarchos. I wasn't aware that he founded Uranopolis! MACEDON, Uranopolis Circa 300 BC. Æ 15mm (3.27 gm). Eight pointed star / OURANIDW-[P]OLEWS, Aphrodite Urania seated left on globe, holding sceptre in right hand. SNG ANS 914ff; BMC Macedonia pg. 134, 2ff; SNG Copenhagen 455ff; Laffaille -. Nearly VF, dark greenish brown patina Ex: Savoca Ps, the eight pointed star is the Vergina Sun. The royal symbol for the Argead house and still used by the country today on the flag for northern Macedon.
Great site which I am sure was a lot of work. The timeline is quite informative, and the pictures of the coins spectacular.
Thanks! I didn't know that. I'll update his page soon with the info, since I can have a lot of fun with that name.
