Mine has been wonky the past few. Both instances were "out for delivery" only for them to not be delivered & the tracking shows available for pick-up, I go to the PO and they can find it. Well another few days go by and both had been delivered, this was at different times. I guess this is the new norm
At least you got a Tracking Number.... I'm sure it will be there soon. It says that it's arriving late. Also, choose text for alerts,
The first thing I thought of was your package might be along the railroad tracks in LA! That's all I'll write, but I believe the problem with missing package and stolen articles could be very easily fixed in just a week!
Bad thing is, I won another coin from the same seller since then. I hope he will go on and ship it with this one in limbo. Also, I have another one that is marked as "in transit arriving late" starting to get frustrating. I'm done bidding until everything I'm waiting on now gets here. On a side note, my CAC shipment which is sent registered is moving nicely with no glitches. Should be back here tomorrow even. Shipped last Tuesday. Well after this one was missing
I've learned that at times for some shipments, you can't take the tracking info at face value. It doesn't make sense. It'll leave the same location three different times or show out for delivery and it isn't. This is common now. Anymore I pay more to get important things shipped pronto. Anything I really care about, I don't want "in the system" for a week or more.
Is this package small? If so it may be stuck in a bag or it was kicked under a piece of equipment. Iowa area is known for being one of the top ten black holes in the postal service. Usually they reappear but it can take time. Years ago Philadelphia once found a container with about 75 Christmas parcels. The post office never considered them lost but they were discovered in August the following year. Be patient. At least you have the tracking number. The seller did his job.
Be patient. The Snowstorms and flight cancellations have been creating havoc with package shipments , and backing up the system. Makes sense to me that SD and IA would be affected by the storms. Even if they weren't , someplace they may have to pass through could be. The scanning on your package tells me it is alive and well and not lost. just delayed.
As a coin seller I have lost about five packages in the last month that I know of, and it's always possible more are lost and the buyer hasn't contacted me yet. It's really bad right now.
Yes one lowly fr02 1921 walker. My first coin purchase of the year. And coin 2 isn't doing much better lol.
USPS tracking seems to be notoriously inaccurate at times. I see the last entry is from Weare, NH that's only like 1.5 hrs from me, want me to drive down. HAHA.
I sent a package to Puerto Rico via Registered Mail. It departed from Jamaica, NY on the 13th. Haven't heard a word more about it! My local PO is not concerned...but I am, as is the buyer. I dont know why I did registered...I should have learned from previous experience. It was a $2K package - I thought Registered would be the right thing to do...
A few years ago I sent a package to China and it went via Ghana for some reason. Never did figure it out. Recently only one package from Canada to me in Mass. was scanned as having been delivered only to find it got dropped on the floor at the P.O. Tracking is wonky. It is not scanned at every stop and can drive you nuts.
Another thing I've encountered a number of times is it will scan as delivered left by front door or in mailbox or whatever. Then it's not there.....but then a day or two later it shows up.
I just checked on a package, a small box, that left New Hampshire on Thursday. It’s expected to arrive tomorrow. That would be a trick as is just left Los Angeles California a few hours ago. Usually I get them in 2-3 days from New Hampshire. I’ll be patient.
Don't feel bad I had a coin shipped to me from Michigan. It went to Memphis Tennessee then to UTAH, then BACK to Memphis then to Tupelo, Mississippi. I called the post office and asked them if they thought UTAH is close spelling to Mississippi.
It was the best way to ship. It’s probably held up in customs, on either end, but with Registered Mail it doesn’t get scanned until delivered and it slows it down for travel time.
Your local PO can see more than you can when they look it up. Registered mail tracking is intentionally inaccurate or delayed for security purposes. It's honestly the worst as it takes forever even during normal times and really takes forever now with the reduced flights, extra volume etc especially leaving the continental US. Priority or Express costs a little more for insurance unless you have private insurance but its worth it for the extra speed.
