I think I’m will. One of the things I’ve been doing lately is putting a Coin up And seeing what people think about the accuracy of the grade. It’s nice to have a second, third and 40th opinion on the accuracy of the grade. I’ll find some thing I’m interested in and just see if the general consensus is that the grade is accurate or not. I used to just find coins I like and then buy them buying all certified so that it’s more difficult to make a bad mistake However if this resource is here why wouldn’t I take advantage of it. I liked the coin which of course is the most important part of this process and so I thought I just see what people thought about the grade and accuracy and go from there
I hope you get it. It is a very nice coin and one that I would feel lucky to have in my collection. I promise not to bid against you
I appreciate the not bidding against me but hey feel free. It’s an auction and you have every right but again I appreciate the gesture. If I do get the coin I might resubmit though
If you do get it I think it would be better to have CAC look at it. If it got a bean then it would probably get you more bang for your buck than trying to get a higher grade. Looking at the certification number tells me that it was a recent submission to NGC.
I appreciate the advice again this is one of the nice things about doing this with the board here as you can get lots of good opinions and advice without having to walk a coin all around a show floor
These are the coins I got from this dealer. I used to be snagging them as bargains, but it seems folks have caught on. I got most of them raw, so I am glad to hear his coins are grading without issues. But if he were doctoring them in some way, wouldn’t all seven of these look a lot more similar to each other?
I don’t think he’s necessarily doctoring it wouldn’t surprise me if somebody sold him a huge and complete one cent collection. I know people talk about how easy it is and how people can get there artificial San Quinn has the greatest services but personally I don’t think that this is an easy thing to do and I think that if it could be easily done that the market would’ve already been flooded with it because the market is not flooded with his problem I do not believe that this is going on I realize this is a minority position and most people are going to respond and tell me that they know X,y, and z person who does this but my position still is that if it was possible to do it the market would be flooded by them
I don't think it's true for all of his coins. I've bought a number of them myself. As you mentioned, folks seem to have caught on and auction bids mostly go higher than I want to go these days. I think most of his Lincoln Wheat Cents are original. My comment earlier pertained mostly to a number of Indian Head Cents. Many had very similar toning. One CT member in an earlier post showed a picture of a raw IHC variety he sold him and compared it to the slabbed auction photo later on. It was obviously the same coin but the toning was much different.
If your comment is to me, the answer is no. I have them in a beautiful Intercept Shield album I got from Wizard Coin Supply. I like the arrangement of 6 cents per row, and 6 rows per page. They look tremendous. I cannot imagine how I could see them the way I like if I put them into bulky slabs. I would lose all the impact. This photo contains the 1916 from the group I showed above. I got it for only $16.50. If its a MS65 RB, list price is 170.
Looks like the set I had to sell before I retired so I could buy a second home for my retirement. Nice coins!
Let me know if you won this coin. The price it sold at was very reasonable in my opinion. MS65 RB ones have been selling in the mid $5000s.
