Yesterday 2 guys from our detecting club and myself went on our first Beach Metal Detecting hunt for 2022.
We didn't find anything great and basically all had the same corroded coin finds. So I just wanted to show my finds as an example of what happens to coins when they become Environmentally Damaged.

Coin with hardened sand on both sides. I don't know how this occurs but we find many. I will try to soak it in water for a few days to see if it softens up and all comes off.

Kinda cold wasn’t it? It made it to 34* but it’s already dropping. We’ve had a week of below freezing temps, hopefully you’re a bit warmer.

That dark Wheat Cent looks like a 1944. Glad you got out and had some fun but it’s a heck of a way to add Hot Wheels cars to your collection. Lol

If only they had used sunscreen.

Can you believe that I actually got a minor sunburn to my face! The suns rays reflecting off the sand is enough to give a little burn. Even doing just 3 hours of detecting.

You wouldn't last near that long down here.Even with sunscreen, maybe a half hour max with a full body tan,you know;).
