The coin arrived today as part of a small group lot. It is an AE antoninianus of Severina, 275 AD. The reverse has a P to the left of Concordia. Is this coin from Antioch? I don't think this is a Rome Mint coin. 4.17 grams Thanks
https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3298431 Looks like it. The placement of that "P" reverse lower left field mark makes it pretty easy to scan coins when you enter "Severina xxi concordia P" into Acsearch.info
Antioch: Antoninianus, RIC 20, sixth emission. The hairstyle resembles that of Siscia, but changes with the seventh emission, below: Antoninianus, RIC 19, 7th and final emission. Note change in hairstyle from that of the 6th emission. Only Serdica and Antioch minted coins with this Otacilia-Severa-style coiffure and only in the final year of her reign.
Here's my favorite Severina. It's too bad that her face is basically Aurelian with long hair but the condition is great. I do need to capture a better photo of it though and may try today no that I think about it.
Thank you all for the information. This coin came with a Caligula as, which was the focus of the purchase. The other coin, a Domitian as, with a Moneta reverse, has nice centers but active corrosion along the edge, making it somewhat ragged. It is currently "in treatment" - distilled water bath for an extended time. The only other coin for the reign of Aurelian is this sestertius that I got out of a "bargain" box at a coin show in the 90s. The purchase coincided with our marriage, so it seemed fitting for it to add to the collection.
Thanks! I really like your Aurelian sestertius! I've been hunting for an affordable one of those... but still no luck. Anyway, seeing how bad my photo was, I reshot my Severina thanks to this thread. Any better? Not bad for a cell phone and some apps for cropping.
The sestertius is a difficult coin to locate. I just came across the one I own purely by chance. Yes, the black background and the brighter light do help. Black really helps a silver coin really stand out. With bronze, it is more problematic, depending on how dark it is as well as the condition of the coin's surfaces.

While attending the New York International I purchased one of these coins. I have yet to have a picture taken of my coin but it does exist. Severina Billon Antoninianus Antioch MIR 383a2 3.37 grms 24 mm This is the picture of my coin in MIR
