I found this one on ebay. Just wondering the grade you guys would give this. It is an 1894-O $10 GOLD LIBERTY NTC CERTIFIED. With all those bag marks can it still be given an MS grading? After a few replies I will tell you how it was graded.
Bag marks just lower the MS grade but IMO they can still be MS as long as there is no wear on the coin.... I would say MS61 but maybe 62....I thought there might be some wear on the eagle face and on the hair of Lady Liberty...if that is the case...AU53... Speedy
I would say it depends on who graded it. If it is a lesser name I would say they gave it a ms-63 a better name I would guess an ms-60. But as I said its just a guess. I would grade it as an AU 55. Cant wait to see the grade.
DRUM ROLL PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!! NTC graded MS64. Which I thought was a little high. So the real question I have is this. As long as a coin is uncirculated and does not show major damage or other defects such as this coin, it will still be given an MS grading despite the amount of bag marks. Is that an accurate statement?
Pretty much - yes. But I should also say that in this case all we had to go by was the pics. And the pics don't show it all - they never can. For example - there may be rim dings or enough damage to the rim of that coin that some of the grading companies wouldn't even grade it at all. But I can't tell for sure based on the pics. So all I can do is assume that rim is OK and go with what I can see.
Can I just say who cares what the grade it is a stunning coin and something I would be proud to display in my collection (I can but hope ) De Orc
With only 107500 known minted, just getting one into a collection is tough, so even as furry as the photos make this one appear, I wouldn't kick it to the curb Congrats on your coin
