Is this 78 CC really a dmpl?

    I don't think so. The fields are rather cloudy, and the surfaces are really chopped up, especially on the obverse. It's one of those coins with some P-L that look the worse because of excessive bag marks.

    That could be too. The photos a out of focus when you put the strong glass on it. It's also got a couple of those little grey pitted areas on the reverse, which can form when the "Chinese P-L surface" is breaking down. It remember a counterfeit ASE that was in a genuine box with papers that was no good. It had spots on it similar to that.

    Looks legit as a coin/Morgan $, but potential "details" and not DMPL to me. I mean, how would/could anyone possibly measure/assess the "30-inch jaw-dropping mirrors and BU luster" given the marks/haze, et al...? But seller qualifies it with "my opinion." That said, maybe if it stays below $300 in a few more hrs it might be worth a bid to someone looking for such an example of an 1878-CC as is...maybe low MS/MS details. My opinion.
