Hi, I just came across a 2019 P San Antonio mint roll, that has a cud above the date on the roll end. Should I open the roll to see if there anymore? Is it worth anything? More in the roll or out of it? What would you do?
That’s a die chip. A cud starts from the rim and affects it always. All face value you’d prob get more for the roll then all the coins with die chip separate the die chip adds no vaule tho.
Minor Die chips are relatively common on the ATB quarters. No added value, but cool to save if you like them. There may be more in the roll. IMO, Opening the roll is up to you. Would you rather search the roll for errors and varieties, or keep it as a mint issued roll? No right or wrong answer
Question is, how much did you pay for the roll? If you find a whole roll of coins with die chips or other issues, then you may be able to sell each of them for a premium, otherwise, you might benefit from that showing on the end to sell the whole roll for more than what you paid.
