I recently purchased this coin, an 1854 Liberty Seated Quarter. It has arrows at the date and no rays making it a variety 3 coin. 12,380,000 were minted. On the reverse from the D in UNITED through the S in STATES, it appears to be a lamination. If you look closely it ends in the middle of the T, which can be noticed at the top of the T. To me it appears to be a lamination before the strike occurred. I just can’t quite make it out so I’m not sure about it. Can I please get the opinion of other members? Thank you in advance.
That's a tough one. Appears to be a faulty planchet but then the bottom of the D is missing, like a hit of some type. The die crack, paddy54 brings up could be contributing, but I don't know. Little to no experience with this type of issue, so I'm just looking and guessing based on my own knowledge.
