Is there a "Redbook" for French coins?? Kinda like Spinks does for British coins??
(aside from the big Krause guides that list a LOT of different countries)Thanks, Bill

Yes, it is Monnaies Francaises by Gadoury. It will contain all French coinage from 1789 to date. And it has information that Krause does not have.

Thank You!! I don't suppose there is an english version?? (I goofed off WAY too much back in high school french class, but I did marry a girl that sat next to me there:cool:)
If not, how useful would it be for an english only reader?? Thanks, Bill

Yes, the web site is in English - but the book is in French.

It's not that hard to teach yourself to read it though. I taught myself to read numismatic terms in French and Dutch in a very short time.

Bill, I have an admittedly old version of the Gadoury book in front of me... there is tons of information that can be gleaned from it without speaking a word of French. And if you're willing to look up a word here or there, I don't see why it wouldn't be quite usable.
