Funny Looking Color

What could cause this color change? Or Is this just Environmental Damage? Thank you for replies.

I think it is most likely environmental damage as apposed to any Improper Alloy Mix.

Very interesting link. Thank you for it. I have others that may fall in the "Woodies" type. Am I wrong to assume that improper Alloy Mixed coins would be slightly above face value?

 

Yes, but the '42 cent isn't one of them, imo.

 

You are not wrong. But usually only outstanding examples and only to certain collectors.

 

Looks like someone zinc plated it to me. I worked in a plating room at an electrical breaker factory back in the late 70's. We zinc plated all kinds of coins, just for giggles. Hell, that could be one of them.

 

Fun find, but NAV IMHO (No Added Value, In My Humble Opinion).
