Obverse legend is "Divus Augustus Pater" so it appears to be a posthumous type for Augustus, issued by Tiberius. Reverse is a winged thunderbolt between SC. I assume this coin is an As? If so, it is listed as #527 in the old 4th edition of Sear's Roman Coins and Their Values (don't have the current expanded edition, in which the numbering has changed). Hope this helps.
Here’s a similar coin of mine so you can better see what the reverse looks like…. Winged thunderbolt, S-C either side. Tiberius - Rome - RIC I 83
@Parthicus @Orange Julius When I have a coin attributed as best it can be I find a representative photo and description. I copy those and include them with photos of my coin. I put the coin and the descriptions in my album. This will serve to help my grandkids to understand the coin and give some sort of authenticity to it. I have permission to use photos out of Wildwinds. I can't find a photo or description of this coin in Wildwinds, but with the help here I did find it in Sears. I don't want to copy any of that information. So, after all that, I would like to ask if I may use the photo from Orange Julius and the description from Parthicus in my album. Attached is a sample of what I do with the information. Thanks.
Absolutely, you can use my photo in any way you wish. Although this coin was issued under Tiberius, for some reason it’s on Augustus’ Wildwinds page. It’s toward the bottom of the list with a (tib) after the reference number to indicate who issued the coin. Here’s a link to that listing: https://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear5/s1791.html#RIC_0083[tib] You can also find listing for this coin by searching acsearch, CNG or other resources.
@Inspector43 : Of course, you are welcome to use my description in cataloguing your collection, or whatever other purpose you want. Glad I could help!
