Any ideas if this is a error? It is both obverse and reverse. Weight is 3.10 g 2022-01-17-05-38-45-671.jpg 2022-01-17-05-38-18-974.jpg 2022-01-17-05-38-45-671.jpg 2022-01-17-05-38-18-974.jpg 2022-01-17-05-37-30-387.jpg

Looks like it used as a stabilizer under a table or chair leg. JMO:)

Lol it looks like the word United is in the top of the hairline on the obverse.

Not a mint error. It was ground down somehow.

You’re trying too hard. Study up on errors. Otherwise everything is going to continue to look like one.

@Superloop, if you are familiar with the minting process, can you tell us why you think this could be a mint error. Just what part of the process could produce that effect?
Not picking on you, but knowing the minting process goes a long way to answering your own questions.
    Good luck in the future.

My answer would be that I am just starting to do this. I really wasn't sure if it was or was not a mint error. Didn't think so but wanted to know if anyone had ever seen this on a coin before and if so what caused it. I have been collecting for awhile but never had anywhere I could get a opinion from someone with experience. I watch a lot of videos and now I will watch them from the minting process to be better informed. I didn't intend to take time from you to answer what I should have known. I'll try to be more selective on my questions. Thanks

    Hi Superloop,

Try not to take offence, they just aren't very charismatic and tend to come across as "matter of fact" in their delivery. :woot:

they are correct it is post minting damage, and rather than the short answers of "damage", some are trying to point you towards learning how to identify damage from a minting error. We are always here, and always going to help to some extent or another, but everyone has their unique personalities.
there some here that rub me really wrong, I'm sure I bother people also. Just how it goes.

Well thank you. I'm getting there and I'll try not to be so sensitive lol. Been a little stressed lately is all. Much appreciated.

Technically, we all are. 2 long years of stress and what seems like no light at the end of the tunnel yet. I've got a theory that just about the entire planet has some level of PTSD over the current "situation". one day at a time. 200.gif
