Chopped up rim

    I bought this peace dollar about eight years ago and kind of forgot about what it looked like until today. I thought it looked genuine back then so I put away. After my Lasic surgery, my eyes can see it now. I weighed it today and got 26.8 but now I'm not so sure about it being genuine because it looks like it should be weighing much less because there is definite metal loss from the chop marks all along the rim. Please let me know what you think.

    Looks like they are nicks from being hit, not file marks removing metal.

    Someone who definitely had way to much time on their hands. Who decided that they would decorate the coin. Damage

    Damaged coin. Fortunately, a common date, and not very valuable. Somebody really went to town on that poor coin.
