Congrats to you, and your wife, kids, dogs,cats.....and the missing hamster that you may want to speak to the cat about.....! You my friend reminds me of my late aunt Eva. Aunt Eva,and Uncle Ship who real name was Walter, but went by Ship as his last name was Shipley. Anyway Aunt & Uncle had 9 kids! I can never recall a visit that Laundry wasn't being done! A constant state of washer and dryer going full speed. In the early 60's Uncle Ship purchased a VW bus! Correct a micro bus under powered, and filled with a family of 11. My cousins would speak of Sunday trips after Mass driving up the country, the mountains of the tri state area . To purchase fresh fruit ,and of course ice cream cone afterwards.
My cousins would speak of saying the Rosery that the bus way under powered.... filled to the max would pull the next hill!
My congratulations my friend ....family is everything! Having just a few family members left I envy you.
But I do enjoy these memories, and appreciate your post sharing such great news....and the flash back that I remember of having a large family. Best Regards Paddy

So talking with all the nurses and doctors, we apparently really lucked out. FFIV had a double true knot in his umbilical cord and Ms. Frog had a placental abrubtion. Both things are super dangerous on their own but together is absolutely insane.
We just had the baby like it was no big deal. 2 pushes and he was out. We were extrenely lucky.
I will be buying a lotto ticket today. Though all of our luck may have been used up.

Big congrats. It reminds me of when I delivered my daughter back in 2000. Basically the nurse stepped out of the way and asked my to handle the baby as it emerged from the birth canal. She was eight pounds 10 ounces and was born two weeks late. Great news @furryfrog02 !

    Best wishes & congrats FF.

I come from a large family, being the youngest of 9 with 6 older sisters was an experience to say the least :grumpy:

Congratulations on the birth of your son. But keep him on milk for a few months before you start him on coins.

Our last baby got his first coin from @Randy Abercrombie. He was maybe a month or two old. A beautiful Byzantine anonymous follis. He is 2 now and knows that is HIS coin. He also loves when we break out the ancients binder or search through rolls. If I'm looking at coins online, he will say "ooooo coins!" and will come sit and look with me :)

Imo, you can never start them too young :)

Congrats from an old timer. Our first was in 1970. Back then, the mother and baby girl (Amy) had to stay in the hospital for five days before they could come home. Even when they came home, my mother-in-law took the baby from my arms and my wife and baby got into the car and said goodbye. I was in the army and still had another 12 days of active duty. I tried to get it waived, but no luck. I didn't hold baby until she was 3 weeks old.
Number 2 came early. I was in college and was studying for final exams when she went into labor. We live about 20 miles from the hospital. When we were checking in at the hospital, her water broke in the hallway. The nurse called the doctor and they took my wife and were headed to the labor and delivery room when the baby (Bill Junior) decided to be born in the hallway of the hospital while I was still filling out paperwork. This time, the baby and mother went home the next day.
Number 3 came when I just started my first job after college. This was the nicest birth of all. I was able to go into the delivery room with doctor and nurses. I gowned up and put on my gloves just in time to watch Number 3 be born (Kerri).
A couple of years later, my wife said "enuff" and had her tubes tied.
My advice...First, sleep as much as you can while your wife is pregnant because, if you are the father you should be, you get up for the 2AM feeding and afterwords, write it all down in a journal. I have 3 binders of pictures and notes from when the your wife is pregnant with your first one, until forever. I looked through my journals last night and saw the pictures and notes I made and I started blubbering. Don't worry, it's a good thing.
Again, congratulations and buy all the 2022 ASE's you can.

My wife and I alternated, one night it's for me, one night it's for her, one night it's for me, etc... When we heard the poor little baby crying in the middle of the night, and I realized it was HER turn, it was real paradise....

We've always done straight from the tap with the other 3. I assume that this will be the same. I usually do diaper duty (dooty?) Since mom does the meals.

My two kids were born 20 months apart. Very tiring for awhile. I thought I'd never get enough sleep.

I'm an identical twin that nobody knew was coming - this was before ultrasounds and sonograms. My brother popped out first, everyone was relieved that the party was over, and then six minutes later I got lonesome and popped out, too. From what I've heard, the doctors were as worried about my dad as they were about my mom, judging from his reaction.
This sounds familiar - for my first (my daughter), I was stationed on Okinawa and my now-ex wife was in San Diego waiting to deliver her. I was in the Philippines when I found out she'd been born, but it took another month to get back here. I was allowed two weeks of leave, and I went by military flights, so naturally the plane broke down at its first stop in Tokyo, and then again on its second stop in Korea, so by the time I actually got to San Diego I had about enough time to hold my daughter and say, "See you in eight more months", and then head back to Okinawa.
I remember the look my daughter would give me when I was finally back in the States for good, and had to tell her "no" about something...she just looked at me like, "Who's this clown, telling ME no?"...hahaha.

Yeah, they didn't try that with us. I was willing to leave it all to the folks with all the training. Plus, I don't think they offered any self-service discount. ;)
