chunk of metal ID

    I found this in a box that had my great grandfathers pocket watch chain...looks like it may have been part of the chain decoration...I didn't take any pics of the other side, there is some kind of material/paper glued to it blocking any design that is still there...looks to me like some kind of hammered coin? but I have not a clue when it comes to these things...any help would be appreciated

    I can see what you mean, it does look a bit like the shield on a 2 cent coin, but this is about the size of a dime or smaller maybe if someone melted it...but it really does look like a hammered coin....maybe my title is upsetting
