This is DDD, die deterioration doubling. The lettering has eroded edges, as opposed to MD, machine doubling with a flat and shelf-like shift to the letters. To be fair, it could be a combination of both.
Yes, it is considered doubling, but "worthless doubling" as it is just from a worn die. NAV but good eye, and good photos. Thanks.
Here is a diagram you can find in many threads on CT. Hope it helps! Also, here is a link to PCGS pictures of a 1955 DD!! Notice how the numbers appear to be the same height? That's one thing I was taught to look for. Of course I learned it on CT!!!
