I know some of you folks prowl for bad listings and report them. For the life of me I cannot find a way to work the drop downs to my advantage to properly report an item that is listed as a error but in this case is just wrapping machine damage. Any ideas? Scroll about halfway down the page to the "item description". At the upper right, you'll see a link labelled "Report Item". You can also try messaging the seller to enlighten them but that's usually ignored. [edit] GH#75 showed the way.

I can get past the report item to the drop down boxes. I just cannot figure out the proper choice that would allow me to describe what the problem really is to back up my report. Or, is that option no longer available. Do we just use the drop down choices and hope for the best? Pardon this old man's confusion.
What I do is; Listing practices, Fraudulent Listing Activities, You suspect the Listing is Fraudulent.
Judging by the proportion of coin listings on Ebay that are erroneous in some way, I'm led to believe that they don't really care too much. They make money whether the description is legit or not. They also do not create the listings, therefore, they are not liable and it is not their reputation that is on the line. I tend to be a pretty cynical person though, so take that for what it's worth .

Yes, I believe their official response would be "we are not experts and cannot comment on the validity of errors, die states, varieties, etc." IOW, claim whatever you want, we don't care. Caveat Emptor.
@tommyc03, I've had the exact same problem. None of the choices really fit the situation, especially for counterfeits that I've seen and tried to report (some are REALLY obvious). @GH#75's suggestion is probably the best. I'll use it next time, even though eBay may ignore it. Steve
At least on LISTIA, where I do trading, there's a comment choice with each listing. I try to be polite when calling something out that is not right, but the person I'm calling out can also hide the comment. Hopefully, enough people see the comment I made before it becomes hidden. This at least, gives people some chance before getting ripped off. And there's as much junk there as there is any other similar site. With over 11K trades there, I've also developed a good rapport with a lot of folks who have come back to me time and again to ask about possible bad listings. Makes a guy feel good, but not cocky. My only attraction to that site is stacking silver for my stuff I don't want anymore and I've found several good people who use reliable sites like Apmex to trade off on.
Years ago they actually had a link for reporting problems in the coins category. It allowed you to indicate the listing and then gave you a box where you could write an explanation of what was wrong and give any evidence to back up your claim (up to 10,000 characters) and that was sent to a special team that would investigate. In short it moved your complaint to the head of the line. That link made it fairly easy to have bad listings removed quickly. Then ebay disbanded the team and killed the link.
This is the kind of post I had to hit "Like" even though I don't like the message, if you know what I mean. The system Condor describes was great; it really sucks that eBay disbanded it. Caveat emptor is well and good, but there are SO many ignorant, vulnerable folks who are getting scammed without knowing it; perhaps their descendants will know it long into the future when it comes time to sell Mom or Dad's collection.
