I saw a auction on a peace dollar for NGC BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED with no number, What grade is that genrally speaking? Why would they holder it without a grade?

Brilliant Uncirculated is basically the same thing as Mint State, and since the item doesn't have a number, you can safely assume that it would be a mint state grade that is unexceptional for the coin. A peace dollar in a holder like that would likely grade no higher than MS62. If we auction coins like that, we list them as MS60 as a default.

I don't know the specifics of why NGC does that (you can ask them at www.ngccoin.com if you like), but that sort of thing is fairly common on items that are advertised on TV.

I think they do that with bulk submissions. A way to get them authenticated cheaper.
