About 6 years ago I received this ancient coin in the mail from an online company that I’ve dealt with for a long time. I have no idea who or what the coin is or represents. Enclosed was a piece of paper which stated this was a free coin for me for being a regular customer who met their criteria. No other explanation.

Can anyone help identify this coin? I figure it’s a common one and not in real good condition. I can only make out a few letters but I feel it’s not enough to help.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,

I would dig in direction of Valentinian for the Emperor and Sirmium for the mint :)

You'll find that Valens and Valentinian I have very similar facial profiles, more block-headed than their predecessors or successors. Just count the approximate number of letters on the obv legend - fewer is Valens, greater is Valentinian I.

They are difficult to see but I’ll try.

I should have been more clear. I meant, if the letters are small and bunched up its Valentian I, if the letters are large and spaced its Valens.
