Need help identifying penny..damage or error?

    Found this in the register early this morning

    i immediately noticed the texture on coin. I hope the pictures do it justice.
    I jumped to conclusions and I figured it was actual doe error of some sort but I understand PMD isn’t out of the question? Not sure what caused this

    It's a copper plated zinc cent.. It's an issue with the plating. Linear plating bubbles. Not a die issue.

    I assume just an inherent issue with those metals. I like it
