One of my $1 coin show pickups. Has three holes but it is an R6 token, meaning there is an estimated 21-75 tokens in existence. I am happy to save it from the junk bin at that price
Neat. I believe one of the holes was created using an old square nail. It was probably nailed to a wall for luck. I would of purchased that token also if I saw it!
A shame about the damage, Matthew, but I would have bought it too. An important save because of the rarity. paddyman98 might be right about it being nailed up somewhere. The square hole is likely from an old nail hammered from the "Our Country" side. The round hole was drilled from that side of the token too...the excess metal around the holes by the portrait show that. Whoever did it wanted to display the "Our Country." Maybe a patriotic gesture. Bruce
