I just had a novel thought for the U.S. Mint. How about a special issue nickel(s) 140th anniversary celebration (2023) of the first year of the Liberty Nickel (1883) and last year of the Shield nickel (1883).
Original designs with dual date coins.
    P & D circulating coins.
    Proof "S" versions.
    Reverse Proof "S" versions.
    West Point "W" versions.
West Point "W" reverse proof versions.
All in a special collector's case.
P & D rolls orderable from the Mint.
I can already hear the howls about too many issues already but would love to hear from anyone anyways. Cheers! Tom P.S. Feel free to pass this along to the Director of the Mint.

Please don’t give the mint any new ideas. But it does sound nice. I just unpacked a beautiful racketeer nickel. Each side also has die cracks. It’s in uncirculated condition but that’s for another post on another day. I’m tired of going through boxes, envelopes and packages. :)

As a nickel collector I love the idea. It is about time for a change. However I see trouble on the horizon .
Not to po poo...the idea but remember what became of the mints shot at making gold copies of the Mercury dime,SLQ,& Walker Liberty half.
Sorry friends but I cannot believe the US mint finished product on those 3 items.
I believe that it is time for a change of all US coins ,as I do not see demands for such in the near future as due to the pandemic quite a few people want nothing to do with handeling cash in any form.
More debit card cashless transactions will be the down fall of cash in any form.
But think about it....with more internet transactions no cash needed , the percentage of those who do use cash will be a low percentage of the population.
So yeah I like to see a change to all our coinage that worth minting. Unfortunately the cent, half dollar coin ,and dollar bill are all surely on the block to retire, and dollar coins replaces the bill....
I understand that this is quite strange to those who use cash...but unfortunately people prefer a transaction these days void of cash.....and the need to carry any.
