I could believe it when I saw it. A very nice retained struck through. Just check out the date. A 1954-D.

What's going on with the left side of the Liberty Bell on the reverse, laminations?

It looks like it could be 2 heavy cuts. If the cut is at a shallow angle, the displaced metal doesn't move much. Over time, circulation wear pushes the displaced metal down, which can cover some/most/all of the original cut but still leave a raised area. Notice how the coin has other scratches/cuts on both sides

    Edit to add
There was a thread 2-3 years about a coin with a raised X in the field. It was shown to be caused by what I described above. Unfortunately, I can't find the thread in the archives

    Another Edit
Found a link about raised cuts

I just see a coin suffering post strike damage from cuts on the obv field.

at is the X on Kennedy half dollar?

Some folks make an ominous connection between the appearance of what looks to some like an elaborate “X” on the neck to mark the location of a mortal wound sustained by President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated by an assassin's bullets during a motorcade procession in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

    They are shallow cuts.

You didn’t look at the date. They are raised and a can drag my finger over them. Not a cut at all.

Graffiti, is the only thing that comes to mind when I see that coin.
I define graffiti as intended damage.

Yes they are raised, and yes believe it or not they are caused by cuts into the coin.
