Here it is..for my son's Birthday this Summer. These are pretty hard to find with only 5000 minted for each..

Can you believe that I bought some coins??

These sold out at the Perth Mint when they were issued a short while back...

Those are pretty cool. If he thinks he may get notes I bet he'll be surprised to get silver coins instead. I recall they were pretty pricey when originally for sale on the Perth Mint web site. This YouTube video on the Perth Mint shows colorized coins being printed/minted, noting that the Perth Mint was the first in the industry to do so.

They could make a coin for every movie!
They could make a coin for every popular toy!
They could make a coin for a every great state park!

    Congratulations. Keep it up.

Just incase the pocket book gets tighter in the years ahead, this might be a good time to do a little extra shopping. Anything made during or before the kids parents, might be of interests to a young one.

Nice find RickieB.... I wish someone had made colorized, silver "Skeletor" coins when my young one was young...(30 years ago, plus! LoL!)

    5 years?

We you in a coin 12 step program?

    Oops, that was me!

  15. Nice sentiment. Hope he is still into Transformers this summer though. I have 7-year-old (soon to be 8-year-old) son and he is into and out of many things these days (including coins). If it happens, you will have to add them to your own collection. Enjoy, TC

I do not own any coins anymore..LOL

When we had his 7th B-Day Party it was a Transformers Party at the Local Movie House..I had 20 boys that day...oh the joy!!

These will be put back for him along with my currency collection for when he is much older...he adores the Transformers and has huge models in his room..
When he is a young man, he will remember this I am sure..when he goes through the collection when he is in his 30's, it will flood his memory of what his Dad did all those years...hopefully it will help take care of him after I am gone.

Hudson James: I did! and I also read the comic books that came out in the 80s when these toys hit the US market. I also owned many of the toys too and bought them as collectibles. I've since sold them all off and done quite well on the pieces I had to sell. Toy collectors in the 90s paid beau coup bucks for those plastic robots. It's a bit softer now I think but still there are many collectors. I doubt the toy collectors go for these coins though.

I didn't get into anything off topic with this thread because there was already another thread transformer error in which we got a little humor going on regarding the Transformers. They are neat coins but they are pricey for what they are. IMO.
