So.. I got this Amero.. My First.. I like the Idea of the Amero..( And ....FIGHT)

This is one of 300 of this Design.. I had not seen it before.. So .. Since these are not real.. I would guess all are just Different Prototypes made by Different Companies?
Not a Great Design .. Ambiguous by design as not to offend.

Anybody want to tell me about them? Your Views on the Amero?
This one only cost me 3.00

If I am right it is the North and South American Version of the Euro..
If we ever get that far.. I know that most Americans have issues with Sovereignty and with the way the Euro is doing today.. Who can Blame them..
So far it seems like several Companies are making different Prototypes...
This one is a Bit weak.. but some of the others are very nice.. Limited Productions .. most under 500 Total..http://cgi.ebay.com/UNA-2008-50-AME...iewItemQQptZCoins_Bullion?hash=item4a9e93a585

Have not counted the topics and posts about the amero that we already have in Coin Talk, but there sure are quite a few. ;) Since there is no such currency union (which, if it ever comes, would probably consist of Canada, the US and Mexico), these are just medals. However, some of them are very nicely designed.

Daniel Carr for example - see your link to the auction - usually does a great job with these. Don't think he has made French and Spanish versions of them so far, but for a "US type amero" they look good. Probably too detailed for a circulation coin design though. The piece you got (thanks for showing it here) is country and language neutral but the design is less appealing. I suppose that is a Cu-Ni piece; how big (diameter) is yours approximately?

I was under the impression that the Amero was supported by people disillusioned with the US government and the dollar. I personally think that especially with the current problems plaguing the euro program that it'll never happen, not that it had a chance anyways...

Oh. I agree.. And yes the Euro is looking bad so not a good selling point to the American People, Not like we are much for giving up any form of our sovereignty so would have been a hard pitch for anyone to say we are getting rid of the dollar..
Now.. 100 years down the road? Maybe, But for now these are just more fun Medals for us all to collect..
I think I like the Dollar and Peso to much as individual items than to mix the two,
Thanks for the info on these.. I am sure there are TON of post on these..
I do like the Low Mintage and Wow some of those D.Carr Designs for a a bit for a Modern Medal.

Funny, I am NOT Nationalistic at ALL.. but HATE the Idea of losing the Dollar.

Now you know how an Italian felt. Not that I'm comparing your sense of Nationalism to an Italian's IN ANY WAY.

Uh, if "the" Italians want the lira back, fine with me. Ad if "the" Greek would like to get out of the EU and the euro, that is basically their business. But somehow both scenarios are about as likely as the US using anything except the US dollar. :) That is why I don't think the amero will ever fly. But as medals, some of them are nice. Thanks for the info about the size, Lather! Bigger than I thought ...

Tight! I wish I had something like that to tinker with.

On the subject of the Amero.....I'm not for it for any particular reason other than I like the dollar and I like sovereign money.

Interestingly, I would imagine some of the more die-hard religious folk could interpret the Amero as part of the "world bank" and "New World Order" that is mentioned in the bible. I'm not amongst the faithful myself, but I had to study theology in high school and I can certainly see the parallels. At any rate, that's not at all why I oppose the Amero.

    Just don't like it. :D

With the way we are insistent on borrowing money from China, we are more likely to see the Chinese yuan. The only way to fix our problems is to cut spending (30-50%) and fix the tax structure (lower and flat). But, that's a whole other issue.

I always wondered how anyone thought the Amero would work for North America. The US and Canada might be able to pull something off together, but Mexico? They'd have to make such small denominations, assuming one Amero was equal to a dollar, to support Mexico's economy, soon there'd be fifty different coins. most households in Mexico earn just a few dollars a day. A continent-wide currency doesn't work when you have a third-world nation in the mix. But, the coins are a neat concept and a set of them would be fun to assemble.
