Where did you get that grade? I would not consider the coin here to be better than VG 8 at best.

That edge looks like it was started as a spooning project and soon abandoned

it is struck through grrease, all luster still there head and back left stalk struck through , see head, flat as a board with no other wear on other devices or mottos, dealer called it unc, but i see some slight wear..on error coins it is tricky, i have blank planchets that the tpg's have called ms-61 & ms-62, and that is pchgs, and ngc respectively, if there is no imprint from a die how can there be a grade?? tpgs to the rescue!!

and you are comjparing my coin to ones in this picture?? tpgs pcgs photograde??? well, i think you need a better magnifyer, and since i am not offeriing this for sale, it does not matter, in my collection and that is what i graded it.. grades are nothing but opinions based on objective view, and with the greas hit i thinkk it is, might be wrong, but hey happy new yrs

If the dealer gave it that grade I suggest finding a new dealer!

Also grades are not opinions. They follow strict conditions and descriptions that have been followed by graders for a long time. When you send a coin to a grading company they have strict protocols to follow. Now you can use your opinion for a grade, but no one is going to agree with it.

well my customers surely do, out of 6000 coins i graded and marked for sale, maybe 2 ort 3 were seen as questionable, so far no complaints, been grading buying and selling coins now for 46 years (off and on) and have done appraisals for quite a few collectors...yes, their are strict coditions and standards, ehich i adhere to including, phot grade (brown & dunn) ana official handbook of us coins, and also photograde (pcgs site),,,and all grades are the opinion of someone who sees the coin and then forms an opinion based off technical facts.

Remember, coin grading is not an exact science. It is an opinion based upon a standard this is an excerpt from spruce crafts

    https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/coin-grading-made-simple-768384

so right there in print, from 2 giants of information..grading is an opinion, and yes it is subjective.

True, but opinion is out the window when there is such a big gap between grades. The original coin is neither AU or MS. Maybe somewhere in VG.

vf, it is struck through, upon s inspection, it is not vg, look above pcgs photograde is showing coin with much more wear than mine, mine is at least vd-20 , stalk lines are all there except where struck through, when a coin is struck through grease, it loses design elements, this does not lower the grade, i have blank coins that the pcgs and ngc have graded ms-61 & ms-62..what would you grade a type 2 blank???..i would say au, but the top grading companies issue a higher grade... it is definately not vg, look for gods sake...coin is struck through, not worn

the coin still has lUSTER, but there is wear, that is why i lowered my opinion (grade) to vf..it is not good, or vg, it is struck through here is one on great collections, same as mine 634511-1.gif 634511-2.gif

nah, i corected it to a vf-20..but as i said, not for sale..in my collection,. grading is subjective, everyone sees things differrently, i am just using the tools i have, 40 + yrs of knowledge in american coins, mostly moderns, my ana book, photograde by pcgs (online & free) and common sense
