A nice Greek Silver 1/5th Tetradrachm.
    359-336 BC.
    Apollo reverse.
Phillip II was Alexander the Great’s father.

Very nice example! Apollo is on the obverse. The horseman probably refers to Philip II's victories in various equestrian events in the Olympic Games of 356 BC, the same year Alexander the (would-be) Great was born. I once collected a set of the bronze versions in all four orientations...

Lovely portrait of Apollo @Collecting Nut and a very cool coin:woot::cigar:
Ha! I thought I blamed @Alegandron and that he was the only CTer with the set. Now I'm not sure it was he that inspired me to do this (though it may have been you!). Each also has a different symbol beneath the horse and rider:

Here's my coin similar to the OPs. Note that most of these were minted well past Philip II's lifetime.

I have purchased a small number from John but not this coin. I found it elsewhere and by surprise over six years ago. I do enjoy the @John Anthony auctions.
