1830 CBH Large vs Small Letters, attribution

    I checked it, but still every coin has a few stars with the centers mushy. It's different stars on different coins. But yours has detail in the center and all but one or two are sharp detail. I think it will come back cleaned because of a monotone appearance without a cameo look, but that is hard to capture in a photo.

    I just think it deserves the extra effort BEFORE you attempt any conservation to see what you're dealing with. It doesn't have to be a TPG. Just someone you trust. I wonder if Dave could look at it?

    It's a nice looking 1832...AU 55 to 58. Solid strike, but 106's often come that way.

    As for the carbon spots, yes, there are ways to get rid of them--don't ask me how; I don't know--but the process will usually leave signs that they were there and look worse than the spots. The "spots removed" will result in a details slab.
