i was bidding on it (up till 500.00) then it started to soar, the only thing i think is hinky is that he broke it out of holder, and anacs does not have picture available for this coin,,,what do you think?? is it worth 2,000, should i keep bidding..also wonder about corrosion, does it ever stop on copper, or?? please let me know, thanks it is ending soon...ciao john

Well, considering that it shows a date, that is pretty nice

Once a holder is cracked open its completely worthless so just ignore everything on the label

Two reasons: Cracked open holder and not that great of a grade. Just doesn't appeal to me. JMHO

Everything will eventually be dust. You wouldnt have to worry about it turning to dust in your lifetime

It's just that I have some Colonials that I've dug while "Metal Detecting" that are almost unidentifiable now after only about 16 years in air-tite holders. When I found them they were better this coin.

Lol hopefully longer than that, but the coin should last well beyond anyone of any age thats alive today. It's over 200 years old and pretty stable by now

Heritage shows a couple of straight Grade G6s for about $3200. I'd want a bit more discount than the current bid price, though I would be a buyer at the appropriate discount.

And they just saved me the trouble of cracking the slab to put the coin in a cotton lined envelope the way copper should be kept.
