Just curious if this looks genuine or not? The only thing I know about trade dollars is, assume it's counterfeit until proven otherwise.

Genuine, about VF30 +-. May have been cleaned, but that is often difficult to tell from just two photos.

The other thing to know is do not buy a Trade Dollar that is not graded by a recognized TPG.

I disagree that your opinion means nothing. Every facet of our hobby depends on, and has as the foundation of collecting, our individual opinions.

Why is that Charley? What do you base your opinion on? Please be specific so we can learn something from you. Thanks in advance!

I agree. Everyone in this hobby has an opinion. Some "opinions" deserve to be considered while others are pure :yack::yack::yack:. So it depends a great deal on who gives the opinion. Nevertheless, in the past fifty plus years, I have learned to ignore the "fame and reputation" of anyone giving an opinion until they can give the specific reasons they considered to reach that opinion. Then, I need to decide if their opinion can be proven to be correct.

Luckily, this is an open forum and all opinions fill space and give us enjoyment both posting and responding. :D

Oh no I wouldn't buy one out of a slab.

I would buy an unslabbed trade dollar from a reputable source. This coin is one the higher mintage pieces, and does not have chop marks. It looks good to me, but having it in hand to view it and weigh would be preferred.

Looks genuine to me. It lacks chop marks and that’s a plus. Also looks cleaned and re-toned dark and that’s okay. A common date but who cares? Trade Dollars are hard to come by.

It looks genuine to me, based on the pics. The dentils, letter and number fonts and spacing, and other details don't set off any alarms.
Aside from some minor things like the scratch across libertys chest, the rim dings above "states", and whatever is going on between the arrowheads, it looks pretty good.
