Obv - SALONINA AVG, Draped bust right on crescent
Rev - PVDICITIA, Pudicitia seated, holding scepter and drawing back drapery from face. Mintmark VI
    RIC 25
Coin has a very attractive glossy black/charcoal patina. Very attractive in-hand, even if a bit worn. Cracked in striking it appears, but still a solid example.

Got this one from German ebay - have not had a chance to look up what the numeral in the exergue means - probably the officina or mint. I used to have a nice example of her sestertius - nice only in the sense that it was not quite as small and worn as most of them are. I have been looking for an affordable Saloninus sestertius for years - found all of one for sale but it ended up outside my price range. I may never see another one. Sestertii of Saloninus and Valerian II are EXTREMELY rare. gggfff).jpg

PXV in the exergue is the Tribuncian year for Gallienus (A.D. 267)

A few years ago I took a photo of three Salonina antoniniani together because the colors were interesting. That one on the left looks like actual silver; the other two look like copper slugs:

Here is a Salonina, which I found recently on Ebay. It was only about 15 Euros, so I bought it.
    Obv: SALONINA AVG
    Rev.: PIETAS AVGG
    Mint: Rome
    Weight: 2.9g

The portrait is interesting and the coin is apparently of relatively good silver

I love that Venus Victrix! She doesn't have quite the booty like some others I've seen. I still need to add one to the collection.

I like the eagle reverses. I will guess those are the most desirable.

I wonder if mine (OP) is of silver composition?

Thanks for the responses in this thread.

Your coin is more than likely billon. A wee bit of silver but mostly copper and whatever else.

These coins tend to run the gamut from bronze:

    To silver washed/plated:

    To full silver:

The lady also has rather diverse portraits, so who knows what she actually looked like.

    Great coins everyone!

This coin's flan is kinda ragged but the portrait on this coin is one of the most beautiful and lifelike I've seen of all Salonina portraits. I really like it.

I love it. My second coin above makes her look like an evil stepsister or something.
