    1972 D KENNEDY HALF DOLLAR

I weigh each coin and this one for this date and MM is significantly higher than the other 50 or so of this same date and MM from the same box. The average weight of the rest of this date and mint mark were on or close to normal date of 11.30 grams. Quite a few were even closer to 11.20 grams.

This one weighs 11.47 grams. I double-triple checked after resetting the new scale and testing it's accuracy with my weight gram set using the 20 gram weight (Exact weight each time checked).

Coin also has interesting obverse and reverse, as well as possible
    D north of D MM.

I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who hunts KHD for more than just silver coins. I am searching for all there is to be found among these coins.

Thank you for your feedback! Happy hunting!

    Slightly thicker planchet than normal.

11.34 is normal. Yours is 0.13g heavier. A weight tolerance for clad halves is +/- 0.454g meaning yours is well within tolerance.

Everything else you are seeing is a result of worn dies. This is most evident around IGWT on the obverse and the stars on the reverse. Classic orange peel effect.

Not every planchet is the same. Yours is slightly heavier, do probably just a bit to thick but it’s still normal.
